To Preserve the B&M Baked Beanery, 2007

Burnham and Morrill (B&M) of Portland, Maine, is the only baked beanery in New England. The purpose of this project, To Preserve the B&M Baked Beanery, is to document B & M's processing plant and to literally preserve it in its own cans. Two watercolor portraits of the company's plant were produced. One was selected for hanging, and the other was cut into 49 fragments, pictured above. Collaborating with the management, canning and labeling experts sealed the art into B & M baked bean cans.
