Merhaba Baghdad, 2008

Merhaba Baghdad is a friendly way to say "Hello, Baghdad" in Turkish and Iraqi Arabic. The concept to organize an international exhibition with this title is based upon by a conversation with Ahmed Hassoon, an Iraqi linguist. Upon reuniting five years later the group exhibit occurred at the Hewar Gallery in downtown Baghdad October 2008. The gallery is owned by Ahmed's uncle Qasim Sabti, a well-established Baghdad painter www.qasimsabti.com. Merhaba Baghdad included the work of 23 artists from Canada, Australia, Europe, Taiwan and the United States.
